David Hillman, son of Dayan Samuel Isaac Hillman, of the London Beth Din,

and brother-in-law to Israel’s first Chief Rabbi Isaac Halevi Herzog, created stained glass windows for many

London Synagogues. Prof. Newman of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, and a great nephew of Hillman, has been
studying this fascinating story of art , religion and community politics while on sabbatical in London.
These Windows are, without doubt, one of London’s hidden art treasures – not just for the Jewish
community – and a well kept secret.
