Not-Quite Beginners’ class is a continuation from the last two terms, but other students at a similar level are most welcome to join ! Students in this class should be able to read short texts in Yiddish in Hebrew characters (even if you read very slowly !) and to have simple conversations about every day things in the present tense – and we’ve just started working with the past tense. You will need access to Sheva Zucker’s text book Yiddish, Vol. 1 (for beginners), published by the Arbeterring in New York. Apparently, it’s available to download as a PDF, if you don’t have the actual book. We’re in the middle of Unit 8A, which is all about mishpokhe.
