Shtetl Love Song

Noir Press, The Spiro Ark and Central Synagogue are delighted to invite you to the launch of Grigory Kanovich's award winning novel Shtetl Love Song.

Shtetl Love Song is Grigory Kanovich's moving autobiographical novel about growing up in a small Lithuanian town before the Second World War.

A must read for anybody who is interested in Jewish history, in Jews in Eastern Europe, in Jewish literature and/or biographies written with a difference.  Don't even think of missing it!  The fact that a musical soiree, both Yiddish and Classical is included is an even bigger temptation.

Set in a rural Lithuanian landscape on the eve of World War II,  'Shtetl Love Song' is full of tender affection, soft irony, and sharp observations.

Guided by the memory of his beloved mother, the masterful narrator takes us into the very midst of his enchanted family world, recreating the past that is irrevocably destroyed and yet fully alive in his memory.

Gigory Kanovich is Lithuania's most prominent writer, winner of Lithuanian National Prize for Culture and Arts.  A play based on his novels will be on at London's Barbican Theatre featuring an all-star Russian cast.
