Israel is in a battle and a substantial part of that battle is taking place in the global media. After twelve years on the frontline, HonestReporting is the world's largest grassroots organisation dedicated to defending Israel from media bias, empowering thousands of activists around the world and giving them the tools to effectively impact the media. HonestReporting's Managing Editor, Simon Plosker, will take a look at how to identify media bias, where it occurs, the reasons behind it and how individuals can take action to make a difference. This visual presentation will look at contemporary examples of bias and outline practical tools such as social media and letter writing to effect change, with particular emphasis on the British media.

With overall responsibility for HonestReporting's content and output, Simon joined the HonestReporting team in November 2005 following several years working in a variety of non-profit organizations, including the Jewish Agency and the Board of Deputies of British Jews prior to immigrating to Israel in 2001 from London. In Israel, Simon has worked for BICOM and as Managing Editor of NGO Monitor as well as serving for a short period in the IDF Spokesperson's Unit where he continues to perform reserve duty.

Simon has a BSoc.Sc in International Studies and Political Science from the University of Birmingham and a MSc in History of International Relations from the London School of Economics.
