Colette Littman is a distinguished member of our community and the publisher of the Littman Library of Jewish Civilization and of the Polin series. Colette is also the author of a book of short stories currently being edited in Israel which she hopes to launch in the near future. Yet she often tends to hide her light, and her extraordinary talent for poetry and story writing.
This evening will celebrate Colette's literary achievements in poetry and prose which were recognised by her being the recipient of the first prize in The Times National Poetry Competition.
Actors Joelle Partner and Robert Rietti as well as Colette herself will read from her works. Musicians, Gwendolen Burton (soprano) and Alexander Knapp (piano) will add the musical interludes which have been carefully chosen to represent the topics and mood of Colette's sensitive writing. They will include settings of texts from the Bible and Liturgy in Classical Hebrew, secular songs in Modern Hebrew and folk ballads in Ladino.
