In collaboration with Polish Cultural Institute
The evening will consist of two parts - film and concert, with or without interval, depending on local requirements.
Alfred Schreyer from Drohobycz - a documentary about Alfred Schreyer is 45 min and to maintain the dynamics it is recommended to leave out the interval.
The film (by Marcin Gizycki and Malgorzata Sady, produced by Kronika Film Studio, Warsaw, November 2011; in Polish with English subtitles) tells the story of Alfred's life in his own words, filmed in several sites in Drohobycz and vicinity, accompanied by music performed by his trio and archival material (film footage and photographs).
Alfred Schreyer Trio (Alfred Schreyer - vocal and violin, Lev Lobanov - piano, Tadeusz Servatko - accordion). The concert lasts about 1 hour and includes songs in Jiddish (mainly by M.Gebirtig) + traditional instrumental Jewish music, popular pre-war Polish songs - tangos, film music, Lvov folklore, arias from operettas, popular Ukrainian and Russian songs. Alfred introduces respective pieces himself. He is probably the last person performing this kind of repertoire of the era he belongs to and he does it in the most moving and sincere way. It is hard to believe that a man who is 89 has such a powerful voice and performing skills.
