SOIREE DU MONDE - a fascinating merge of music of different cultures
Soiree du Monde traces the surprising and exotic musical synergies to be found in some of the world's great oral traditions. A diverse and fascinating program of folk, popular and classical songs in some dozen languages from North and South America, France, Spain, England, Ireland, Greece, Turkey, Morocco and The Balkans, will tell a rich musical story and promote the cause of cross-cultural appreciation and understanding. From joyous hymns of celebration to poignant ballads of love, from flamenco-inspired pieces to holy works of praise, Mr Edery's (USA) instrumental virtuosity, rich baritone and Ms Panko's (Poland) expressive and sensitive mezzo-soprano will transport you to a place where voice, heart and soul become one with the music. These two remarkable artists were brought together for the Gala Concert of the 2011 Zachor Festival in Bialystock, Poland and by popular demand have created an unforgettable musical experience you will not want to miss.
Gerard Edery has already pleased the audience of Spiro Ark when he gave us a wonderful concert of Sephardi and Ladino songs.
