Vocal and Instrumental Repertoire from Jewish-Arabic Traditions
with Yair Dalal (Oud), Yaniv d'Or (counter-tenor) and Erez Mounk (percussion)
Yair Dalal's family came to Israel from Baghdad. He is a leading composer, violinist, oud player and singer. He has played a key role in shaping the global world music scene, with over 11 albums interweaving the traditions of Iraqi and Jewish Arabic music to create a unique and colorful sound. In 2000 Dalal was nominated for a Grammy as part of Jordi Savall's ensemble and by BBC World Music Awards as Best Musician from the Middle East.
Born in Israel to Iraqi-Hungarian parents, Erez Mounk (below left) sis one of the most remarkable precussionists of his generation. He studied Tabla with the Indian Master Pandit Naharayam and has performed internationally as well as in Israel.
Counter-tenor Yaniv d'Or, (above right) a graduate of the Jerusalem Music Academy and of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama i is a leading international operatic counter-tenor. Yaniv is the founder of Ensemble NAYA, currently touring Israel and Europe with a programme of early and contemporary music inspired by Jewish texts.
