Ron Moody is the name of a mega-star known to all of us from his leading role as Fagin in the musical 'Oliver'.
This was no doubt the highlight of Ron's brilliant career. In 1966, he was already an acclaimed author, composer and an actor on stage, film and TV. He was also known as a dancer and on the side a keen amateur archaeologist.
Ron Moody was born in London in 1924 as Ronald Mudnick. His academic ability got him into London School of Economics (LSE). As a result of these studies, his acting career began only at the age of 30, mainly in reviews. This genre exhibited the variety of his talents. The pre-London tour of 'Oliver' was actually a failure which nearly led to the cancellation of the show. Today you could hardly meet a person who cannot sing amongst others the favourite 'Reviewing the Situation'.
Ron's dream was always to play the great 18th Century clown, Joseph Grimaldi. He himself has written both the play and the music and actually performed the role as Grimaldi which had its premiere at the British Old Vic in Manchester.
We are fortunate to launch Ron Moody's autobiographical new book "A Still Untitled, Not Quite Autobiography" in which Ron will elaborate on the fascinating story of his life. The event is organized together with JR Publishers who reassure us that we are in for an enormously exciting event.
