Opening of a photography exhibition displaying the work of Bedouin children from Alazazma school at Wadi Al Na'am village and the work of the photo-journalist Liza Hamlyn.
The children's photographs reflect their own perspectives on their daily life. They are the product of an on-going project of visual literacy conducted by the graphic artist Ilan Molcho whose voluntary work saw the establishing of a series of photography workshops organized by the Negev Forum for Coexistence for Civil Equality.
While spending four years in the Negev, Liza Hamlyn spent many hours speaking to, and getting to know women from the Bedouin towns of Laquia and Rahat. Attaining the trust of women in this highly isolated society has enabled Liza gain first-hand experience of their culture. Liza tells some of their stories in picture.
On the opening evening of this exhibition, Professor Avner Ben-Amos from Tel-Aviv University will talk about Bedouin history and society and Liza Hamlyin will talk of her personal experience shared with Bedouin women which formed the basis for her contribution to this exhibition.
The above programme will be followed by:
