Paintography' is a unique blend of digital painting and photography, created in recent years as an ultra-modern art form. By using various computer software, filters and digital brushes, photographs are transformed into contemporary 'paintographs'. The term 'Paintography' is fairly new, reflecting the nature of this distinctive art, which combines 'Painting' with 'Photography'.
In his 'City Scenes - Tel Aviv to London' exhibition, Shmuel Ben-Hagai brings together a unique photographic angle of London and Tel Aviv with his own personal interpretation of these two vibrant cities. The images create a sensual urban celebration, effortlessly bridging the gap between conventional and modern art.
Shmuel invites the viewer into his innermost thoughts, his creative passion, and his subtle sense of humour. His pictures are surprising, multi layered, and give the viewer an unusual perspective of an otherwise ordinary metropolitan scene. At times, the images are soft and comforting to the eye; at times, they are aggressively presented, provoking a reaction from the viewer. Throughout, though, his art maintains an instantly recognizable individual mark and a vibrant artistic signature.
