The Broadway Syncopators is a much reduced big band, put together for this evening by Dave Burman and some of his musical acquaintances. Most of the songs in this evening's programme date from the 1920s when a dance craze hit the USA. "Hot"Dance bands were in demand. The flavour was Jazz. The spice was in the improvised solo work of the hot players whose jazzy solo work usually filled out stock arrangements. Many of the songs in this evening's programme were written by Jewish composers. This is not surprising since most of the composers of popular songs in the USA were Jewish.
Probably the hottest commercial dance band of the period was the Jean Goldkette Orchestra, featuring Eddy Lang, Frank Trumbauer and the great romantic legend -- Bix Beiderbecke.
Now by your leave, we will perform for you some of those treasures from the 1920s
