This concert will be a celebration of Jewish melodies and 'Art Songs' in Hebrew, Yiddish and Judeo-Spanish (Ladino) for soprano and piano. The repertoire includes arrangements by classical composers, both past and present in a concert exploring the rich heritage of Jewish popular song.
ARJAN Soprano
Arjan studied singing at the Royal College of Music and voice production in Milan. She performs in over a dozen languages, but she now specialises in the 'Jewish Art Song' genre, in Hebrew, Yiddish and Ladino. Arjan is also an accomplished sculptress and runs her own jewellery business in the West End of London.
Stefan Byron ARCM piano
Stefan studied at the Royal College of Music and at Morley College and is currently on the committee of the London Piano Circle. Music is not his only passion: Stefan is a founder member of the Sunbury Yoga Society and specialises in combining yoga and music performance. He also started a company in The Bond Street Antique Centre specialising in antique jewellery.
Both Stefan and Arjan are dedicated to adding their part to a world of better understanding amongst people of different backgrounds and needs. What makes us better human beings is our sensitivity towards each other finding similarities rather than differences and building upon them. 'My sorrows have taught me to understand the sorrows of my fellow man; neither persecution nor exile have dimmed the vision within me' (Kahlil Gibran)
