'Mazl-Tov' is a concert of Jewish music with exquisite singer, Gwendolen Burton, accompanied on the piano by talented pianist, Michael Cayton.
The concert will explore life, laughter and love, with stories and songs sung in the original languages: Yiddish, Ladino and Hebrew. Gwendolen has a particular gift in bringing the words to life for her audiences. Expect an authentic and unashamedly personal interpretation of this wonderful music.
You may have already heard Gwendolen sing at Finchley Progressive Synagogue; at La Scala de San Telmo in Buenos Aires; as soloist in Carl Orff's Carmina Burana; at the National Folksbiene Theatre in New York; or at the Purcell Room when Gwendolen was the soloist at the premiere of Kyla Greenbaum's setting of the Song of Songs for soprano and orchestra.
Gwendolen and Michael promise to hold you captivated by such beautiful songs as Mazl, Nani nani, and Umgliklekher (Poor Wand'ring One), as well as music by British composers Alexander Knapp and Julian Dawes. Not to be missed--Mazl-Tov!
