Tel Aviv was the first entirely Jewish city. It combined all the dreams of Theodor Herzl's vision of a modern city built of sand dunes that has become the most vibrant city in Israel, the heart of interesting architecture, classical and experimental theatre, music of all types, galleries, international cuisine, beauty and ugliness, wealth and poverty.
Songs in their concise way draw a verbal, musical and atmospheric picture of Tel Aviv and Norman Cohen Falah, one of the most sensitive and versatile interpreters of Jewish music, will bring out all of it to life in a vivid way. You will be provided with the lyrics in transliteration and translation, enabling your participation.
The other half of the programme will be tales about early Tel Aviv, describing the creation of the city and presenting stories of its inhabitants and issues. They will be read by actor, director and playwright, Robert Rietti.
Get into the spirit of 100 years ago and of Tel Aviv's development--listen to the stories, learn the songs and join in! After the programme the city which you love visiting will never be the same to you.
