This is a fascinating and sumptuous publication which will delight lovers of Greece, admirers of Ballets Russes and especially of Bakst's genius.
Charles will sign the books of "Bakst in Greece" (hot off the press) on the occasion of his lecture on Erte Diaghilev. The book is absolutely a feast for the eye with its spectacular illustration as well as rich in hitherto unknown information.
Charles Spencer was born in the East End of London of Russian-Polish parentage and has been associated with the Spiro Ark as our 'Resident' art lecturer for many years.
His background and qualifications make him the best person to give a series of lectures on Jewish painters from the East End and their effect on Jewish art in general.
He will add another lecture on Erte of whose art work he is a world expert.
Charles is an international critic, editor of Art and Artists, a worldwide lecturer including the United States and Russia. He has specialized in Romanian Art publishing studies on Erte Diaghilev, Leon Bakst and the Ballets Russes.
Bakst visited Greece in 1907 but nothing was known about the book he had written on his experiences and on the profound influence the visit had on him.
