4 illustrated lectures with Charles Spencer, international critic, lecturer and author.
To coincide with the exhibition at The Whitechapel Art Gallery
Three of the above four were the children of the mass emigration of Jews from Eastern Europe to Britain at the end of the 19th century. They are the same generation of Jewish painters who emerged in the United States and especially Paris. Their distinct expression contributed something new and original to British art and they are among the finest artists of the 20th century. Charles Spencer was personally acquainted with Wolmark and Bomberg.
Also see Tuesday 2 July for a lecture by the same author on Erte and the Grosvenor Gallery
